In- home design service is available in the greater Nashville area for custom draperies and bedding.
Our award winning designer, Tanna Miller will talk with you about your preferences before your design session and make preparations so that your first meeting is very likely to produce a design that you can order and feel confident about. Tanna will make selections based on your preferences to bring to you.
Your first design session with Tanna includes measuring one room of windows, selecting fabric and hardware, developing a design, and pricing. This can usually be done in 1.5 hours. The session is priced at $150. Additional time is available at $75/ hour. Please keep in mind that our designer has spent 1 - 2.5 hours preparing and driving before your time begins. We ask that you do not accept phone calls, texts, or video calls during your meeting so that it will be a successful and efficient.
Our design session is not a sales session. Your expectations and vision are the driving factors behind everything you will be shown. Please ask questions and offer your own images or ideas as you would like them to be considered. Tanna will bring out the details of each design and fabric as it applies to your specific project.
Each order is carefully written to describe the plans that are made. We take the responsibility to making the measurements accurate. For instance, rather than saying a drapery will be 100" long, we will say (for instance) that it will be mounted at a certain place and clear the floor. That way, you don't have to double check our work or trust us blindly.
Orders require your signature of approval and deposit or full payment in order to initiate the order. Both signature and deposit are required before we order materials for your job.
Fabrication methods are described as Tanna thinks is appropriate for conveying the work involved. All work is done according to professional industry standards. For drapery panels, that means the fabric is cut to be square, lengths are consistent, patterns match at the seams, hemmed are rolled double and blind stitched (not top-stitched) unless noted otherwise. Pleats are even, neat, and mathematically precise.
Fabrics vary in how they perform. You may want to discuss nuances of what you expect from your drapery treatment to be sure it will be all that you envision. For example a linen drapery will hang very straight and retain pleats well while a polyester drapery could billow out and have soft, puffy pleats. Yet, the linen stretches and may crease while the polyester stays more or less the same over its life. Knowing which attribute is important to you is very helpful in predicting how pleased you will be with the end result.
We represent numerous fabric lines, design houses, and suppliers making our total available fabrics to nearly 300,000! Of those, approximately 20,000 samples are kept in our fabric library. Tanna usually brings at least 12 books of fabric to a first meeting. We can special order samples of any fabric we carry.
Several types of lining are available for custom draperies. We will consider the light block, body of the drapery, color from outside, heat resistance, and insulation value as needed for your design.
Lead times vary with the number of orders in the work cue, fabric availability, and type of work to be done. Minimum lead time for semi-custom draperies is 2.5 weeks. Minimum lead time for fully custom draperies is 6 weeks. Most custom drapery orders take 7-11 weeks to complete.
We will provide client recommendations and references upon your request.
With more than 30 years of experience, you can count on Tanna Miller to give you her best in planning your window treatments and communicating just what the order will involve, so that you will have confidence in our work!
